Lilavati Medical Outreach on the 13th of April, 2025

       

       

On April 13th 2025, the Spina Bifida Foundation, in collaboration with Lilavati Hospital, organised a Free Comprehensive Medical Assessment for Individuals with Spina Bifida.

Patients and Families from across Maharashtra benefited from expert assessments by pediatric surgeons, urologists, orthopedic surgeons, nutritionists and psychologists.

The specialists that were present for this outreach were as follows: 

  • Dr. Santosh Karmarkar and his team including Dr. Anant Bangar, Dr. Surendra Singh, Dr. Sonia Thakur, Dr. Sushma A., Dr. Sandhya Maurya conducted a comprehensive urology assessment 
  • Dr. Alaric Aroojis, pediatric orthopedic surgeon 
  • Ms. Jahanvi Modi, administered psychological assessments for individuals with Spina Bifida and their caregivers 
  • Ms Suraiya Shaikh, nutritionist, created individualised diet plans for individuals with Spina Bifida

Spina Bifida Foundation Day Celebration

       

The 13th of April concluded on a high note with the Spina Bifida Foundation Day celebrations. There was a musical performance by Elixir and a stand up comedy act by Sweta Mantri, filling the atmosphere with joy, laughter and a festive spirit.

The SBF, a not-for-profit organisation was formed by Medical Professionals and parents of Spina Bifida Children who have been involved in the care and upbringing of Spina Bifida patients in India for more than a decade. Since 1997, we – a group of doctors, parents and well wishers have been consistently working for the cause of improving the lives of Spina Bifida (SB) patients and for preventing SB.
